About tldes.com — Compare Domain Prices Across 100+ Registrars
tldes.com is an independent domain price comparison service. It collects and compares prices for domain registration, renewal and transfer across more than 100 ICANN-accredited registrars. The service shows where it is cheapest to register a domain, where to buy a .com domain for the lowest price, and how domain renewal prices compare between registrars — all in a single table where you can compare domain registrars side by side.
The service has been running since 2018, and prices are updated automatically — for most registrars every hour.
What tldes.com does
- Domain price comparison in one table: registration, renewal and transfer at once.
- Cheapest domains across hundreds of domain zones (TLDs): .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .xyz, .shop and many more.
- Up-to-date promo codes and coupons from registrars — discounts on the first year and on renewals.
- Email alerts on low prices — get an email when the price of a domain you want drops.
- Domain pricing API — programmatic access to the data for developers and comparison sites.
- Domain availability check — whether a name is free to register.
The home page and main focus of the service is .com price comparison, the most popular domain zone. But prices can be compared across any of the hundreds of supported zones.
Registration, renewal, transfer — three prices, not one
Many people look only at the first-year registration price and are later surprised by the renewal bill. That is why tldes.com always shows three prices at once:
- registration (first year),
- renewal — what you pay every year after that,
- transfer (moving a domain to another registrar).
This shows the real cost of owning a domain, not just the first-year promo price. Often the cheapest domain for the first year turns out to be expensive at renewal — the table makes this clear right away.
Promo codes and coupons: why they usually work
A common problem with coupon sites is dead promo codes. On tldes.com, promo codes go through several levels of checking:
- Promo codes and discounts are checked automatically — a script verifies them when receiving data, for most sources several times a day.
- Coupons are additionally checked manually 1–2 times a month.
- Users report outdated codes, and such codes are removed quickly.
- The promo source is required to list only active offers: as soon as an offer ends, the code disappears on the next update.
Because of this, promo codes on tldes.com usually work. To see a coupon, click the underlined price in the table.
Transparency: you can see when prices were updated
This is something most other domain price comparison services do not offer.
- At the top of the site, the date of the last data update for the whole site is always shown.
- For each registrar individually — expand its row to see exactly when that registrar's prices were updated.
Other similar services usually do not show when they updated a particular registrar's prices: you only see a number, with no date. On tldes.com, every registrar shows how fresh its data is.
Email alerts on low prices
tldes.com can send low domain price notifications by email, so you do not have to check prices manually. An email arrives when:
- the price for a domain zone you follow drops below a threshold you set,
- a good promo code or offer appears.
This is a way to track when a domain is cheapest to buy, follow several TLDs at once, or wait for a discount on a specific renewal. Alert subscriptions are configured in your account.
Domain pricing API
For developers, comparison sites and registrars themselves, tldes.com offers a domain pricing API (available since 2021). It is also used by domain registrars to monitor competitors' prices. What the API returns:
- prices for registration, renewal and transfer in the format
[TLD, registration, renewal, transfer], - promo codes and special offers,
- registrar metadata (WHOIS privacy, ICANN accreditation, Trustpilot reviews and more),
- status — the date of the last data update.
Data is updated every hour (the first update is around 00:30 UTC). Some endpoints (demo, registrar list, status) are available without a key; the rest require an API key. Details are on the API page.
tldes.com as an alternative to tld-list
Some visitors are looking for an alternative to tld-list. tldes.com solves the same task — comparing domain prices across registrars. What sets it apart:
- Price update dates are visible — both site-wide and per registrar.
- Promo codes usually work — automatic checking plus manual review and user reports.
- Email alerts on low prices — no need to monitor manually.
- An API for integrating prices into your own site or tools.
- Focus on ICANN-accredited registrars — only accredited ones are added, and non-accredited ones are gradually removed.
For its purpose, tldes.com is a site similar to tld-list, an alternative to tld-list for comparing domain registration and renewal prices across registrars.
ICANN-accredited registrars
Currently, only ICANN-accredited registrars are added to tldes.com. This matters: accredited registrars are directly overseen by ICANN and must follow strict rules. If problems arise — transfer difficulties, locks, ownership disputes — you can file a complaint about such a registrar directly with ICANN.
Some non-accredited registrars remain on the list from earlier times, before this rule. They are being gradually removed — a few each year — so that over time the comparison contains only ICANN-accredited registrars.
Domain availability check
tldes.com can check whether a domain is free through a DNS query. Sometimes a name shows as available when it is in fact taken — this can happen when the domain has no NS servers. For that reason, always confirm final availability with the registrar at the time of purchase.
